Maths Fun

In Room 3 we have been learning all about POSITION and ORIENTATION.

We have been exploring paths and grids and we have been using positional language. We are getting really great at using our lefts and rights.
On the right hand side of the blog we have added 3 of our favorite positional games under the maths games heading for you to try at home.

Here is a photo of the work that we have been doing using grids and co-ordinates.

Ice Skating

Over the past six weeks we have been ice skating each Tuesday. We have loved learning new skills and always look forward to finishing our session off with the 'Chicken dance'.
Here are some photos of us on the ice...

Calendar Art

In Room 3 we have been taking the time to celebrate each others differences.
We understand that everyone is  unique, that's what  makes us special.

We decided to draw pictures of our faces for our calendar art. We talked about how our faces all look different, but we still have some things in common, e.g. eyes, ears, mouth and nose.

Yummy Scrummy Fruit!

Today we started our Healthy Fruit snacking!  Lots of children brought apples, oranges, mandarins and peaches to share with their friends.

We are crunching our fruit and sipping water, during reading time in the morning, to keep our brains energized for our learning.

Crunch, crunch, crunch!

"We love the mandarins"

Open wide . . .

Look at this Yummy Scrummy Fruit!

Amazing Art Work

We have been learning to use Pastel and Dye to create some art work.

We have to think very carefully about the shape of what we are drawing.  We also think about what colours we need for our pictures.

Here are our Self Portraits.

We also drew the caterpillars that we have been watching closely.

Pop into class to see our Beautiful Butterfly pictures.

We have been learning our Mihi with Ms Neill.

We are practicing in class everyday by saying

"Kia Ora Koutou
 Ko  ___(name)___ ahau"

Check out Ms Neills blogsite to see what we'll learn next.

Welcome to our Room 3 Blog!

Check back in here to see what we've been learning about.

We have been learning about the Monarch Butterfly Life Cycle.

Can you spot the Caterpillar, Chrysalis and Butterfly?
We were very lucky to see 3 parts of the cycle on one plant!

When our Butterfly was flapping its wings, we took it outside.
A few lucky children had a hold, before our Monarch Butterfly flew off into the sunshine.

Kai having a gentle hold.

Everyone gathered around to see Lido hold the butterfly.

Eve thought the Butterfly was tickling her finger.

The Butterfly flapped its wings while on Jackson's finger.

Tasmin loved having a close look at the Butterfly's wings.

The Butterfly was getting ready to take off from Albie's finger.
